Public hearings set for proposed MARTA changes in DeKalb, Fulton

ATLANTA—MARTA will hold public hearings on Thursday, Sept. 14, for proposed bus service

modifications in DeKalb and Fulton counties. All changes accepted by MARTA’s Board of Directors will become effective Dec. 9, 2017.

The public is invited to attend the hearings. MARTA representatives will be on hand to answer questions beginning at 6 p.m. followed by the public hearings at 7 p.m. The previously scheduled public hearing for Sept. 11 in Clayton County will be rescheduled for a later date.

Proposed bus service modifications are as follows:

Route 3:MLK Jr. Drive/Auburn Ave.

Route 4: Thomasville/Moreland Ave./MTC

Route 13: Atlanta Student Movement Blvd./Hunter Hills

Route 16: Ralph McGill Blvd./N. Highland/Lenox

Route 24: Hosea Williams Drive/McAfee Road

Route 40 (New): Peachtree Street/Downtown

Route 42: Pryor Road/McDaniel Street

Route 49: McDonough Boulevard

Route 55: Jonesboro Road/Hutchens Road/Forest Parkway

Route 81: Venetian Hills

Route 86: Peachcrest Road/Snapfinger Road/Fairington Road

Route 95: Metropolitan Parkway/Hapeville

Route 107: Glenwood Road

Route 110: Peachtree Street (The Peach)

Route 111: Snapfinger Woods Drive/Stonecrest

Route 115: Covington Highway/South Hairston Road

Route 116: Redan Road/Stonecrest

Route 126: North Lake/Chamblee

Route 142 (Demonstration Status): Hosea Williams Drive/McAfee Road

Route 155: Windsor Street/Lakewood Ave/Polar Rock

Route 162: Alison Court/Delowe

Route 172: Sylvan Road/Virginia Avenue

Route 192: Old Dixie/Tara Boulevard

Route 295 (New): Metropolitan Campus Express

Route 889 (Demonstration Status): Oakley Industrial.

 

MARTA regularly evaluates bus route performance including scheduling, on-time performance, ridership and safety. Modifications were recommended based on feedback received from customers and the Authority’s service analysis.

CURRENT PUBLIC HEARING SCHEDULE:

Community Exchange: 6 p.m. – 7 p.m. 
Public Hearing: 7 p.m. 
Riding MARTA: Walk one block west of Decatur Rail Station

Fulton County 
Assembly Hall 
141 Pryor St., SW 
Atlanta, GA 30303
Community Exchange: 6 p.m. – 7 p.m. 
Public Hearing: 7 p.m. 
Riding MARTA: Bus Routes 32, 49, 55, 74, and 186.

 

Copies of the proposed bus service modifications will also be available at MARTA’s headquarters in the Office of External Affairs, at 2424 Piedmont Road, Atlanta, GA 30324, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.

A sign language interpreter will be available at the public
