Target, Conyers will close during November 2018 when the building’s lease will expire.
Target is a significant business presence which will exit Conyers because the sales have been unsatisfactory!
This goes to show you how “OFF the Wall” is Rockdale Board of Commissioners (BOC) proposal for the taking out a Bond of $265, new county debt! This debt will break the financial back of Rockdale County. The County mislead the people when they published that the bond of $140 Million will only cost 4 Mills. They did not give the people the 3.75 Mills will have to be paid for the over $125 Million of interest being paid together with the $140 Million borrowed money will cost! For $100,000 house the homeowner tax will increase by $300/year, for $200,000 house the tax will increase by $600 per year and for a $300,000 home the tax will increase by $900 per year. As always, BOC rushed into another half-baked idea. We need to keep sharp minds on any BOC proposals, or we will loose our shirts! In Rockdale there are 53.7 % of the renters who are declared by the Federal Gov as “overburdened by rent”, meaning they are paying to their rent at least 30% of their take home pay.
VOTE NO TO THE BOND! If the economy goes down any more, there will be probably 10,000 renters leaving our “bedroom community” That will lead to much higher taxes to replace these people’s taxes they will no longer pay!

Why make these comments on a article about restaurant health department scores? Where are you getting your information from? There is ZERO chance that Targets lease is up already. IF they close it will not be because of their lease.

While I agree the bond should probably not be passed as-is, your figures are not correct. Here are the REAL figures, $100,000 FMV Home = $160/year, $200,000 FMV Home = $320/year, and $300,000 FMV Home = $480/year

Nick Suma -you are promoting negative, false awareness information about our community. You need to get your facts straight! We have spoken to upper management who stated that they are committed to our community and staying in Rockdale.

Keep up the fight Nick! The idiots who are at the helm of what once was a nice little piece of suburbia have dragged this county down to the bottom of the sewer. A Commission Chairman who was fired from public service in Richmond County, a newcomer Commissioner who doesn’t have a clue what she is doing, and another who hasn’t made one single bit of improvement to the county because frankly she just doesn’t care. Yeah, lets all pay additional taxes to fund a nicer place to go to work for the same incompetent bottom feeders who have ruined the community!
